Coromandel  :  Kennedy Bay

Harataunga, more commonly known as Kennedy Bay, lies on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, south of the Moehau Ranges. The nearest township is Coromandel, which is about a half hour drive. The Coromandel Peninsula combines spectacular beaches with lush forests and a majestic mountain range. Many of the coastal areas are great for snorkeling, kayaking, fishing and swimming.

Location: Situated in the Waikato Region, Coromandel Peninsula is approximate. 2 hours drive south east from Auckland,. From there, 12 kilometres to Kennedy Bay.

Attractions:Walks vary from simple walks along the coast, to overnight or several day tramps. Historical attractions include Maori village sites, gold mining relics, remains of tramways and dams from the Kauri timber days.
