Napier's Sound shell

Great entertainment and small concerts are held here on the foreshore, Emerson Street, in Napier.This amazing Art Deco style Sound shell Stage and Forecourt is just one of Napier's many structures built in this architectural style. As a result of a massive earthquake in 1931, many buildings were rebuilt in this distinctive style of the times - Art Deco and Spanish Mission. There are numerous cafes with walking distance, and on nearby Marine Parade, you will find a marine zoo and wildlife centre, open-air hot pools, bumper boats, and mini racing cars.

Location: Hawkes Bay, East Coast of New Zealand's North Island.
