New Plymouth, Taranaki, world class surfing and windsurfing location

Lovely beaches as far as the eyes can see, with great places for walking, fishing, swimming and having a day out. New Plymouth, situated in the Taranaki region, is a world class location for surfing and windsurfing beaches. The Sugar Loaf Islands host a Marine Park which is a mecca for a variety of aquatic pursuits such as boating, sailing, diving, pole fishing, surfing, and beach walks. The Marine Park is a refuge for New Zealand fur seals, seabirds, and marine life. The majestic Mt Taranaki is surrounded by lush natural and introduced forestation and herb fields. These in turn play host to many bird species, which can be observed from the surrounding area of National Park.
