Other sites of interest in the Marlborough region include Port Underwood and Oyster Bay, where a marker commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi on nearby Horahora Kakahu Island by South  Island Maori in June 1840.

The seaside town of Picton is the ferry drop off point from Wellington. For further exploration take a drive, follow a walk or join the mail boat run.
