Adventure-wise there's plenty of action in  west port, ranging from jet boat rides on the Buller River to dolphin watching. Charleston offers cave-rafting adventures.

Other attractions here include exploring the Paparoa National Park either by canoe or by hiking the two-hour Pororari River Track through a beautiful limestone gorge.
