WHANGEREI

Stunning scenery is a feature of the one hour climb through native bush and rocky outcrops to the summit of Mount Manaia. A remnant of a large volcano at Whangarei Heads
At the heart of Whangarei is the Town Basin. It's situated on the wharf overlooking the marina and is a refuge for international yachters. Visitors to Whangarei should not miss Whangarei Falls in Tikipunga. This spectacular waterfall, a short walk from the car park, plummets some 25m down a sheer face into a deep, bush-fringed pool.
